More Moves To Come?

It took the Nuggets around two weeks to make a splash in this year’s free agency market but just about 2 days to make their mark. While LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh (among others) took us for a ride the Nuggets were, essentially, spectators. It wasn’t until after the dust settled that most teams began to make moves. Quite a few teams held out hope to get LeBron, even after the first two thirds of the Miami Triangle (you heard it here first) announced that they would go/stay with the Miami Heat. So was it all worth it?

Welcome Back Carter

The Denver Nuggets will not have a problem with point guard depth for the upcoming season. The Nuggets, already blessed(?) with the services of veteran, Chauncey Billups, and second year man, Ty Lawson, have  decided to offer Anthony Carter a minimum deal.  Not a bad idea considering Billups’ age and history of nagging injuries. Not to mention the uncertainty of Ty Lawson, who has been tearing up the Vegas Summer League.

Nuggets Land Depth Up Front

Just days after James and Co. signed with Miami it seemed like no other free agent wanted to go anywhere else. Mike Miller was on the phone with the Heat front office just a few hours after the announcement that there might be a dynasty forming. Everyone wants in. And their willing to play for less. A day or two after the Mike Miller rumor Udonis Haslem signed for about half of what other teams were offering. How can any other team compete with a guaranteed trip to the NBA finals, and perhaps, a title?

Nuggets Come Up Short

There were few surprises on draft night 2010. As expected John Wall and Evan Turner went first and second. After that the Spurs had a steal at number 20 with James Anderson the BIG 12 player of the year. The Spurs always seem to find the steal of the draft no matter where they pick.

Kleiza To Return To NBA?

WOW! You know you’re desperate when….. What are the Nuggets thinking? Leave it to the Denver Nuggets, in the year of the free-agent, to try and lure a former NBA player not named Josh Childress back to The States.

George Karl To Return?

The rumors have been swirling. I’ve been hearing chatter from a lot of different sources about the possible return of Coach George Karl. ESPN reported that Coby Karl, George Karl’s son and current Denver bench-warmer, expects his father to return for the start of next season. As long as he’s healthy enough, that is.

Melo Seeks Extension

I hate my life. I just wrote 700 words about Melo wanting to sign an extension in the coming weeks, then something went wrong and it was all gone. So in the spirit of me staying up late to write something during the most exciting (if your team is still playing) and most boring (if your team has been eliminated) time of the season, I will attempt to paraphrase.

Nuggets’ Future Is Not Bright

I’ve written in the recent past about the Denver Nuggets and how their window to win a title is closing. I have changed my mind about that. I think it has already shut.

Pickless Wonders

I’m sure any casual fan has heard the hype. The NBA held the lottery for the 2010 draft on Tuesday. With the Washington Wizards getting the prestigious honor to pick first for the second time in the last 10 years. Their catastrophic failure (also known as Kwame Brown) in 2001  was, in my opinion, the worst #1 pick ever. That is, until Greg Oden injures himself out of the NBA without ever playing a full 82 games, total.

Which Direction Do We Go?

In one word, describe the Denver Nuggets’ season. Quick, do it, I dare you. It’s not that easy, is it? I was asked that question by a friend the other day and I immediately thought the word would be disappointing. Even though I’ve been disappointed by them since I took over the writing duties here, I couldn’t even mumble the word. Obviously the expectations were high for a team that made it to the conference finals last year. But was it fair to think they’d make it back? In my opinion they overachieved last year and were unfairly hyped to repeat that success. Even before playing the first regular season game of the ‘09-’10 season, experts were calling for them to make a run at the finals. Now we know the outcome.
